The Northwest Regional Delegate For Communication (REDCOM) Njike Celestine was amongst the 51 cameroonians from different background that were distinguished with different medals of honour during the celebration of the 52nd edition of the National Day in Bamenda on May 20, 2024.
Mr. Njike was decorated with the Cameroon Order of Merit medal for 14 years of service to the state at both central and decentralized levels of the ministry of Communication. The medal was awarded by the Governor of the Northwest Region, Aldolph Lele Lafrique.
His recognition comes at a time when the communication sector in the Northwest is facing enormous challenges with the ongoing anglophone arms crisis.
The REDCOM is expected to use his vast experience to stir the sector through the muddy and grey waters that currently shadow over the sector. He also expected to bring discipline and coordinate the activities of the media which is facing increasing disregard for the ethics of the profession and more citizen journalism.
This award is seen as a push for him to forge ahead with the changes and innovations that he is introducing in the sector.
