Elite One Football to Return to Bamenda Next Week

After a tumultuous week fuelled by accusations and counter accusations as to who is blocking the use of the. Bamenda Municipal Stadium, elite one football is due to return to the Northwest regional capital on match day 11.

In a press release signed by Abunde Pascal, President of ACEC (Association of Elite Clubs), he said this follows discussion with the president of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o Fils

“Following my meeting this morning with the President of FECAFOOT, Mr. Samuel Eto’o Fils, I wish to announce that effective from the 11th day of play, PWD of Bamenda and Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda shall host all their home games in Bamenda” thé statement read.

He went further to thank the “President of FECAFOOT, Mr. Samuel Eto’o Fils, for his commitment to the development of football in the North West region” and the “football-loving people of the North West Region for their patience, understanding and sacrifices during this period”

Issues became heated when CFTP announced that the match of the 10th day involving Northwest clubs will be hosted in Mbouda, barely a week after YOSA hosted AS Fortuna at the Yong Francis Stadium at Mile VI Nkwen. A match in which YOSA recorded its first victory of the campaign, winning 2-0.

This programming prompted both elite outfits to issue statements. PWD in a press statement on Wednesday January 29, 2025 blaming this decision on a local authority in the region.

FECAFOOT Northwest through it’s secretary general, Ndi Tsembom Elvis came out on local radio to announced that the decision to move the matches out of the region was because of complaints of the decision by city authorities to grant Razel construction company the permission to park its heavy duty equipments in the Municipal stadium for security reasons.

But he also assured the public that the governor and other stake holders were working with FECAFOOT to resolve the issues.

As it stands, the negotiations have helped fruits and the two teams after this weekend matches in Mbpuda will henceforth host their home games in Bamenda, probably at the Yong Francis Stadium in Mile VI Nkwen.
