One person has been crushed to death and others injured with several vehicles damaged when gun men on motorbikes attempted to kidnapped the driver of a brewery distribution truck between the Brasseries Junction and Fish Pond Hill this afternoon.
Eye witnesses said as the truck entered the main road leading to Ntarikon from the Boisson Du Cameroun Dépôt Bameda, gunmen on bikes fired several shots at the tires to bring the vehicle to a halt. Unable to hit their targets, the rode ahead of the truck and fired shots at the driver.
The driver was hit. He is said to have slumped on the steering wheel, veering the truck out of control and ramping on two other vehicles. The truck then went off the road, crushed part of a second hand shop before moving on to the Fish Pond Hill road and ramped on to another vehicle full of passengers that was ascending the hill.
The driver of the truck was immediately rushed to the Bamenda Regional Hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles and their occupants all escaped unhurt. One man, a pedestrian was instantly crushed on the spot. The assistant truck driver was also taken to the hospital.
Elements of the Mobile Intervention Unit of the Police located only a few metres away from the incident quickly defended on the scene. Access on both sides of the road from Hospital Roundabout and from Ntarikon and from the Food Market have been sealed.

Oh my God why didn’t the driver stop na. It would have resulted only to the burning of the truck or payment of ransom. The lost of a human life is the worst outcome of any situation.
