PM To Inaugurate Bamenda Urban Bypass

The Prime Minister and Head of government Chief Dr. Dion Ngute arrives Bamenda this Morning to Launch construction work on the Bamenda Urban Bypass, a 6.5 km road that will open up circulation and vastly improve the urban road network.

The Bamenda Bypass will run from the New Road Junction Mile II Nkwen through Mobile Nkwen, Finance Junction along Nkwen Baptist Hospital through Miss Ngen, Veterinary Junction, Sonac Street, City Chemist Round About passing through the Food Market to Hospital Round About, Metta Quarter , T Junction through Ayaba Street back to Veterinary Junction.

The project initially announced in 2016 and delayed by the Anglophone crisis and subsequently issues of illegal destruction and compensation of properties.

Public Works (MINTP)Delegate for the Northwest Region, Mr. Ndifor Cyprien Ngenge recently told the press in Bamenda that all cheques for compensation have been paid out waiting only for the work to commence.

The road of way he explained will stretch from 10 metres to over 30 metres wide in certain parts, adding that urban road construction poses numerous challenges.

The road that will be a Dual carriage way forms the main road artery of Bamenda and is also been constructed alongside other feeder roads like the Veterinary Junction to City Council Road and the Small Mankon Vicky street

The PM during his one day visit to Bamenda will also inaugurate the Mile IV bridge constructed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINDHU), lay the foundation stone of the administrative Block of the Mile IV Marker, Visit the Bamenda Station Leisure centre beside the Governor’s office, the BMM – Prison road under construction funded by the C2D project amongst others.

He will later on carry out a joint launching of MINDHU and MINTP projects at the Bamenda Veterinary Junction.
