The Nso Development Association – NSODA has announced the holding of the Ngonnso cultural festival as from November 26 -30, 2024.  This is contained in a public announcement released on September 30, 2024 by the NSODA Executive Council.

The cultural festival under the theme “ The culture of Peace and Reconciliation” will hold in the Nso Fon’s Palace, Kumbo and under the patronage of the paramount Fon of Nso,  HRH Nsehm Mbinglo I.

Ngonnso is the biggest cultural  jamboree in Nso land (Banso) and celebrates the founder and mother of the Nso Fondom.

The Ngonnso represented by a sacred statue was once taken away from the Nso Land by the German colonial administration.  The German colonial officer Kurt Von Pavel stole the statue in 1902 and later donated it to the Ethnological Museum in Berlin-Germany where it was on display for over a century.

It took the effort of Ms Sylvie Vernuy Njobati  a native of Nso and a host of other activists and the government of Cameroon  to have the statute return to where once belong after 120 years.

This is the first time the Ngonnso is holding after the last edition in 2016. Organisers are hoping that the festival that brings together the sons and daughters of Nsoland from far and wide will help highlight the importance of peace and reconciliation in the face of the Anglophone crisis, with Nso one of the most afftected parts of the region.
