Militants of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) including the national Chairman, Hon. Joshua Osih , have laid wreaths on the graves of three founding members in Baba II and at the Liberty Squares (City Chemist Round About ) Bamenda in honour of the party’s founding members and the six persons that lost their lives during the launched of the party on May 26, 1990.
This was during activities on Monday May 26 held to commemorate the party’s 35th anniversary.
The SDF militants visited and laid wreaths on the graves of Ni John Fri Ndi, Dr Azefor, and Siga Asanga, all founding members of the party, and also visited the grave of the late Barrister Sama Francis, who was legal counsel of the party and Rose Fru Ndi, wife of the late Ni John Fru Ndi.
Benjamin. Fru Ndi, son of the late founding father and first national Chairman of the party responding to whether the founding fathers would be happy with where the party is today replied “they will be proud. Think about it, they were going against all odds, I mean that is the whole question of courage….they knew the journey it will involved“

To the National Chairman “ this celebration is not only a celebration of our past, but a call to action for our future. Cameroon is at a cross road, our people earned for change” adding it the duty of the SDF to ” lead this transformation with courage, with compassion and with conviction.”
Joshua Osih emphasized the party’s commitment for “a just, united and federal Cameroon” with the hope for a better Cameroon and for the rule of law to prevail.

The militants lead by the Provincial chairperson of the SDF for the Northwest Region, Fonguh Cletus visited Liberty Square, the site where the SDF was launched 35 years ago. On that day six persons lost their lives, Asanji Christopher, Juliette Sikod , Fidelis Chosi, Fon Edwin, Tifo Mathias, Toje Evaristus.
As the SDF celebrates 35 years in it’s struggle to bring democracy to Cameroon, its next big assignment the October 2025 presidential election where it will challenge the incumbent Paul Biya and thé 2026 parliamentary and municipal elections where it looks to regain the seats and councils it hast lost.
