Union Sportive of Douala has been relegated to the Elite 2 championship. The first relegation in the clubs history since it was founded in 1955.▪️ Mathematically, the Nassara Kamakai can not survive relegation, following Dynamo’s win over Astres and AS Fortuna’s draw against Bamboutos.
Union currently have 19 points from 26 games played and with just 4 games to play, they can only reach 31 points, should they win all their remaining games. That will Mathematically still keep them in the drop zone, given that the lowest team out of the relegation zone on points tally now has 32 points.
This means Union now joins Yong Sport Academy that was declared general forfeiture by the Homologation and Disciplinary Committee of FECAFOOT last month following its failure to turn up for two matches of the 22 and 23 days of play.
Battling against relegation are five more teams all on 32 points.. Astres of Douala, Aigle Royal du Mungo , AS Fortuna, Bamboutos of Mbouda. And Fauve Azur. Two will finally join Union and Yong Sport into the inferior league.
Still not saved from the drop are Canon of Yaounde and Dynamo of Douala on 34 points each, PWD Bamenda on 36 points, Stade Renard 37 and Victoria United on 38 points.
It should be noted that Union was relegated in the 2020-2021 season, but was maintained in the top tier after the Eto’o led FECAFOOT bureau took over and decided that no team be relegated from the previous season
