Elite One Renders Relagation Verdict

Five teams have been relegated from the Elite One championship following matches counting for the 11 and last day of play in the Relegation playoffs, played on Thursday May 2, 2024.

PWD of Bamenda that was on standby on the last day had earlier saved their season when they picked up 15 points in their 10 matches played.

Bamboutos of Mbouda made sure of their elite one status with a 2-1 victory over AS Fortuna. The result took the Mbouda outfit to 15 points and on the 3rd spot guaranteed the Mangwa boys play top flight football next season.

Fauve Azure despite losing 0-2 to Apajes FC remained in elite one after reaching the safety hook of 15 points.

Relegated on the last day of play are Aigle of the Menoua that played a 1-1 tie with UMS of Loum. Both teams could not gather enough points to survive the drop.

Last season cup winner Fovu of Baham also drops to the elite two. They lost to Union Douala by 2-1 on the last day to seal their fate.

Les Astres of Douala ensured the send off Avion de Nkam with a resounding 4-0 defeat. Avion was already relegated before the last day of play.

While waiting for the homologation decision, Fovu Baham, Avion, UMS, Aigle and Apajes will animate the elite two next season.

Meanwhile PWD Bamenda and Yong Sport Academy will be amongst the 16 teams to take part in the elite one next season to be played in a unique pool.
