WPFD: CJTU Recognizes Fallen Colleagues With Awards

Media men and women in Bamenda under the canopy of Cameroon Journalist Trade Union (CJTU) gathered at the Conference Hall of the NWCA Mile III Nkwen to commemorate the 2024 edition of the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD)

The ceremony paid tribute and honour to some fallen colleagues that have left a positive impact and land marks in the region.

There were memorial awards paying tributes to colleagues like Anye Nde Nsoh, PeterKins Mayong, Eric Motomu, Michael Ndi, Fawa Agatha and Rebecca Njeme to deserving journalists who have devoted their time, brilliance and intelligence to the profession. While encouraging journalists to be professional and neutral in their reports.

The Mayor to the Bamenda III council, Fonguh Cletus called on all to be careful with their lives by paying attention to what and when they Report, especially in the crisis hit anglophone regions.

Comrade Nji Ignatius president of the North West chapter of CJTU called on the government to relax laws that permit Journalist’s to access information because a “free press is good for Democracy “
