The Sacred Heart Ex-Students Association (SHESA) USA has donated a public water tap to the population of Ngomgham, in Bamenda, in an initiative aimed at improving access to safe and potable drinking water within the community.
The water project, carried out in partnership with AMOM Charity Cameroon, was officially handed over to the community in September 2026. The initiative forms part of SHESA USA’s efforts to give back to the communities connected to the Sacred Heart educational family.
According to the objectives behind the project, the donation is also intended to express gratitude to the Fon of Mankon for the land provided decades ago, which enabled Sacred Heart Mankon Secondary and High School to establish and continue serving generations of students.
Improving access to potable water
The newly constructed water point is expected to provide easier access to clean drinking water for residents of Ngomgham, particularly pupils and students living and studying around the neigbourhood.
For many communities, access to reliable potable water remains an important public-health and development concern. By providing a nearby source of safe water, the project seeks to reduce the difficulties residents face in obtaining drinking water and contribute to improved hygiene and sanitation.
The initiative also seeks to contribute to the prevention of water-borne diseases, which can be associated with the consumption of contaminated water.
A commitment to giving back
The project reflects SHESA USA’s commitment to supporting communities and institutions associated with the Sacred Heart family.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the public tap represents a gesture of appreciation and solidarity with the people of Mankon and Ngomgham, while providing a practical service that can benefit residents for years to come.
Community members, guests and stakeholders attended the handover ceremony, where the completed water facility was presented to the population.
The project was donated by SHESA USA in partnership with AMOM Charity Cameroon.
For the beneficiaries, the new public tap is more than a water point—it is a community resource designed to promote access to safe drinking water, support young people and contribute to healthier living conditions in Ngomgham.
