Bamenda II council has a new deputy mayor, Azah Victorine was voted into office today to replace the late Mrs. Njoko Frida.
She won the confidence of 21 of the 26 councillors that cast their votes, with five not voting for her in a by election that was supervised by the SDO for Mezam, Simon Émile Mooh.
Simon Émile Mooh praised the maturity of the CPDM to come.up with a unique candidate to ensure the smooth by election process. ” We are expecting her to bring unity and bring also dynamism” the SDO added
The Mayor, Chenwi Peter described her election as a show of “the comportment and solidarity of the councillors” and saw it as a sign to continue to serve the state and the municipality.
Azah Victorine will serve as 2nd Deputy Mayor for the reminder of the term of the late Njoko Frida who was assisted last year. The Sports and Physical education instructor will hold the position till fresh municipal and parliamentary elections in 2026.
