School authorities in Bafut subdivision, NWR have taken the safe path towards School reopening for 2025/2026 academic year by suspending classes for a couple of weeks.

Initially due to resume on September 8, 2025 across the national territory (September 9 for NWR), some schools in the subdivision that had started classes earlier to enable them catch up with the anticipated lockdown decided to send the pupils and students home still further notice.

While other mitigating circumstances may have provoked the closing, some school officials City Web spoke to on condition of anonymity said they decided to play safe and put the interest and security of pupils and students above any other.

Sofar there has been no official statement from local administrative authorities or the separatist advocating for the lockdown.

The general population, parents and other education stake holders are still to come to terms with the reason for the targeting school reopening.

Just like international bodies and other NGO’s there has been increasing calls from all living forces for the education of the future general to be left out of the conflict between state forces and separatist forces calling for an independent West Cameroon.
