Two Killer Killed in Sop (Donga Mantung) October 1
A couple have been killed in Sop, a locality in Ndu Subdivision. MR and Mrs. Mangoh George Nyako were killed early this morning in their home. Mr Mangoh was shot with a local gun while his wife was stabbed severally. They were confirmed death upon arrival in the hospital
The motive for their killing is till unknown but residents of Sop later apprehended two boys suspected of killing the couples. The two, City FM received videos of were severely beaten and are expected to help in unraveling the motive for their actions.
Idabato (Ndian-SW) October 1
The Sub Divisional Officer for Idabato, Indian Division of the Southwest Ewane Roland was kidnapped on the wee hours of Tuesday October 1, 2024 along with one of his staff by unknown gun men. The SDO for Ndian Gilbert Guibai B. in an official telegram to the Consult General For Nigeria in Buea, calls for cross border communication in finding those behind the attack who he claimed in the later crossed over the border in speed boats to Nigeria.
Ghost Town October 1
Today is lockdown across most of the Northwest region with Bamenda the Regional capital in complete lockdown. Reports from other divisional headquarters and subdivision indicate a similar lockdown in Mbengwi(Momo), Ndop (Ngoketunja) Wum (Menchum), Fundong (Boyo) and Jumbo (Bui). Early this morning some residents of Nkambe told City Web they started day with their regular activities.
There is a heavy military presence in Bamenda with security forces station at strategic parts of town. Sporadic gun shots were heard in some part of Bamenda late Monday.
Meanwhile schools in some parts of the region will only be opening their doors for the new school year as from Wednesday October 2, 2024 following the separatist fighters calls for school to reopen according to their own calendar which begins after their supposed Independence Day on October 1.
Buea September 29
The judicial police in Buea, have launched an investigation in to the tragic deaths
of three young children from the same home. They collapsed in church on Sunday
September 29, and local hospital staff confirmed their death later.
The children, Travis, Keila, and Grant, aged 5, 3 and 1, enjoyed indomie noodles prepared at home by the eldest son before heading to worship at the Full Gospel church Molyko. During the sermon, Keila and grant cried and complained of stomach aches. They grew weaker and eventually collapsed, prompting a rush to solidarity hospital in Molyko where doctors confirmed their death. Five year old Travis who walked with parents to the hospital started showing similar symptoms and died later.
The Third district Police station Molyko is currently carrying out investigation to unearth the cause of death.
Kumbo (Bui) 28 September
Separatist fighter attacked and killed the pedagogic Inspector number 1 at the
Divisional delegation of Basic Education for Bui, Amos Vernyuy, on September 28, 2024
Mr. Amos was described as a pillar of the educational sector in kumbo. Many in Kumbo have called his killing heinous and senseless.
Chomba (Bamenda II) September 27
At least two bodies have been recovered from the devastating landside that hit
Chomba village in the Bamenda II council area on September 27, 2024. There are
growing fears that that many more persons are trapped beneath the rubble.
Resident of the area are traumatized and distress as hopes of finding any more survival two days after are quickly fading
The tragedy occurred just days after the national observatory for climate change
issued a warning in its latest climate bulletin about increased precipitation which could lead to floods and landslide.
