He was reportedly freed by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in the early evening hours of Monday March 17, 2025.
He was in captivity for 166 days ( that is five months, 16 days). A Ransome of about 2 billion Francs was requested for his release. It’s not clear if any ransom was paid for his release. Cameroon government has as official policy not to pay Ransome for release of hostages by terrorists.
