Heavy duty machines have descended on the Bamenda Main Market today, demolishing the parts of the market that was recently destroyed by fire.
The burned structures are been brought down by caterpillars to make way for new structures.
The council officials have been tight lipped about the plan of work. What City FM gathered is that the new market promised by the City Mayor will be constructed in two phases.
the first phase will include demolishing and constructing a new modern market in the part that was destroyed by fire. The second phase will involved transfering the traders at the present site to the newly constructed part to make way for the demolition and reconstruction of the rest of the market.
Some details also filtering out indicates that the new market will have access to permit vehicles and fire fighting units to easily move in and out.
