The Mayor of Belo, a locality in Boyo Division was killed alongside his deputy and the Inspector for Basic Education by suspected separatist fighters on Monday May 20th, 2024 .
Mayor Ngong Innocent who also doubles as the Divisional FA President for Boyo was killed in an ambush as they were heading for the ceremonial ground to host the national Day in the subdivision.
𝐓he killing shocked the small community which is at the gate way to Boyo Division from Bamenda. Mayor Ngong is now for his dynamism and push for local development.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Separatist fighters also known as “Amba” a short form for Ambazonian, are suspected to be behind the attack. The fighters are advocating for a separate state for English speaking Cameroonians call Ambazonia. The are particularly against the unitary state and have in past éditions called for total boycott of the national day.
The unresolved crisis that is approaching the eight year continue to claim many innocent lives and a posing a big hindrance to the development of the region.
The mortal remains of the three men were transported to Bamenda Regional Hospital mortuary.
