A young bike rider in Bafmeng, Menchum Division of the Northwest, was killed in a cross fire exchange between state forces and armed separatists on September 7, 2024.
According to some residents, the bike rider on duty came across armed separatists. The fighters seeking transportation for their mission, threatened him with violence, compelling him to comply and act a transporter for them.
Despite his reluctance, he was forced to transport them to a given destination. Unfortunately during their operation, the group encountered military forces. A gun exchange erupted. Amidst the chaos, the bike rider was shot several times. Efforts to save him were futile, and he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Family members, who were shocked by the news, rushed to the site only to find his corpse littered with bullets.
The local population shocked by his death have called for peace in Bafmeng. Cummunity leaders are urging both sides to consider the impact of their actions on innocent lives.
