YOSA To Play Destiny in Limbe

Yong Sport Academy  (YOSA) of Bamenda takes on Victoria United, alias Opopo on Tuesday February 27 in a crucial encounter that can determine both team’s destiny in this year’s championship.

YOSA currently occupies the 4th and last spot for the Elite championship playoff  in pool B on 20 points after 14 matches played. A win against Opopo in Limbe will mean the team takes its destiny into it hands ahead of the last group match on March 2, 2024 against Fovu of Baham. A win for Opopo on the other hand will give the Limbe outfit hopes of picking one of the four tickets for the title playoff. But that will greatly rest on results going in their favour elsewhere.

So great is the stake of the match and YOSA’s fear of possible match fixing that the Communication department of of the team has written to the Secretary of the CFTP to call for vigilance. The letter with subject “Urgent Alert Regarding Match Day 17 (Match between Victoria United and Yong Sports Academy” states that the team has received “disturbing reports from reliable sources that the match referees may be influenced to ensure the defeat of our team to favour another team”

The letter goes further to urge the SG of the CFTP that given the importance of the match “to monitor events closely to avoid any potential irregularities” adding team YOSA is “committed to fair play”

Despite going through some internal challenges, YOSA continues to surprise many by putting up a spirited fight to be in the top 8 of the championship. Much of this has been credited to the head coach Ndikum Blaise who is reported to have put all within his man-management arsenal to ensure that the players give in their all for the YOSA batch. Credit also goes to the die-hard supporters who have pledged their full allegiance to keep the flag of the team flying high.
